Description: This variety of Sage has handsome reddish-purple foliage and blue flowers in summer that are a source of nectar for birds and butterflies. The leaves can be used in sausages, stuffing, omelets and teas. Plant in the border garden or containers in average, well-drained soil.

Purple Sage is a perennial herb that is commonly grown for its edible qualities, although it does have ornamental merits as well. The fragrant narrow purple leaves with curious grayish green undersides can be harvested at any time in the season. The leaves have a savory taste and a strong fragrance.
