Description: Ginger is a popular spice that dates back to ancient cultures. The spice is derived from the root of the ginger plant and is used fresh or dried to a powder. The ginger plant has striking, slender, upright foliage making it a stunning accent plant in the garden. Harvesting the root requires the entire plant to be dug up. It is easy to grow, heat and humidity tolerant. Mulch after planting to retain soil moisture. Ginger prefers part shade with 2-5 hours of filtered sunlight and rich, loose, loamy soil.
